                          Guten tag,

                          Sorry, I cannot write in German, hope English is fine.

                          For years one of the things I've been missing in isiMotor2 games was better manual gearbox simulation. I am working on a GTR2 enhancements plugin, and I just posted a beta of it adding some simple H-Shifted gearbox improvements.

                          Plugin is made for Steam GTR2 only, and has a bit of a tricky setup, but I tried my best to explain it in the manual. It supports a lot of stuff, and if anyone wants, I can share my .ini enabling all features that enhance PnG.                           Hey alle zusammen,

                          was Iron Wolf da auf die beine gestellt hat für GTR2 ist schon beeindruckend.

                          Daher kann ich euch Crewchief echt empfehlen für GTR2 P&G. Vor allem mit den ganzen fixes und erweiterungen wie aktuell der h-shifter implementierung.

                          Multiplayer sollte auch weiterhinn kompatibel bleiben da keine daten verändert werden.

                          Falls ihr auch eine VR headset habt könnt ihr dank crewchief P&G auch in VR zocken. Immersion pur!

                          Lasst es mich wissen falls ihr Hilfe benötigt mit der installation. etc.

                          Thanks for the kind words, Retrolux, and your help on one of the fixes.

                          MichaW, unfortunately, no this is only for Steam GTR2, as this is the base with the highest potential and I feel like it is the best investment of my time. Isn't there GTL -> GTR2 mod anyway?

                          To tell you the secret, Steam GTR2 is different only in .dll/.exe files, and Steam files are included in HQ Anniversy patch Lastly, GTR2 is sooo good - wouldn't it be nice to thank publishers by re-buying?

                          Finally, we can have more accurate H-Shifted _and_ Sequential (without auto lift/throttle cutoff) gearboxes in GTR2, not just semi-auto (which isn't even correct for all FIA 2003/2004 cars, most are sequential and you need to lift to downshift IRL AFAIK). In my view, those small fixes I did make all the vast motorsport from before 1989 a bit more realistic - not only PnG and pre-89 F1 - even DTM 92 was still H-Shifted (not semi-auto). Now, we can replicate that a bit better.

                          By no means this stuff is perfect, but I have put months into researching how gearboxes work, and finding the balance between realism and lack of correct FFB shifters (IRL in some cases lever will physically resist leaving/entering the gear, we can't have that yet).

                          This is just the beginning, so please provide me with suggestions how to improve it. A lot of what I do also requires car changes - wipers, rear diff changes to simulate wheel lockups on downshift, realistic gear timings etc. Hopefully some of it will become a reality

                          This all sounds very interesting. I'll probably switch my installations to the Steam version soon to try it out. And I asked for GTL, because we still maintain the game on the Altbierbude and like to drive it.

                          Don't get me wrong please - I have nothing against GTL or any other games - simply, focus of this effort is Steam version of GTR2.

                          Glad to see interest in more accurate shifting "simulation", my plugin does many more things like supports rain wipers (HQ Anniversary has wipers for PnG compatible with my plugin), flat spots, dirt pickup, stationary friction and more.

                          It is nice to see so much enthusiasm for the motorsport and preserving its history Thank you for running this place guys.

                          couldn't edit my post - but just to clarify this is no longer in beta. CC 4.15.2.9/Plugin 1.4.0.0 contain the initial manual H-Shifted gearbox improvements.

                          it all works perfectly with PnG. Also make sure you are familiar with Plugin Manual - Plugin offers many things to improve simulation a bit, as well as performance/image quality fixes.

                          Also, there's an update included in HQ Anniversary patch for all P&G cars to have button controllable wipers powered by this plugin.

                          Sorry, but no. Supporting multiple .exe's is a lot of work, and I would rather spend my time on new features and fixes. I do understand that most people use non-Steam version, but there are multiple technical reasons why I chose and developing for the Steam GTR2.exe. For the record, another important thing about my work is that my focus is offline racing, so if anything works online, it is just by luck. Graphical Enhancements, for example, do not work online for sure. Also, there's no enforcement for online - so if you enable flat spots/dirt pickup but your opponents don't, you will be at a disadvantage.

                          I just did the last update of the HQ anniversary mod and so with the Steam option activated
                          It seems to work online here! (even if I may not have all the features or improvements possible!)
                          I now get an even better display quality than with the Nvidia DSR (but at the cost of a little more stress on the GPU gtx1080)
                          The FFB realFell seems to be a little bit better, although it is a little bit lost with all the possible actions in the different .ini and .plr files...

                          I can't get the same display quality with GTL, it's a shame...
                          (Diablo 3 causes image shaking in GTL, not in GTR2 !!)

                          glad you got it working. Yes, even if you do not enable any features, there's a lot of stuff improved by default, including the image quality. It is nice to see someone recognizing that.

                          In all honesty, RFP is only better at stationary friction and kF force from LeoFFB is really good for open wheelers and cars without the power steering, never before I felt rubber that well - not even in the newer games. You may want to check the plugin manual to see how I use RFP. But there's no right or wrong way to do it, I just share the approach I use. But it sounds like you got further than most folks already. I really suggest investing time into enabling DXVK integration, that's where the highest image quality is (I do not even test DX9). With today's update, it just got easier to use DXVK.

                          Speaking of FFB - people report an improvement by enabling decoupled physics/inputs. I cannot tell the difference, but it for sure improves FPS a bit and it helps with other things like transducers/motion and CC app accuracy.

                          For the same reason as I support only one .exe, my work is GTR2 only. I picked the most complete isiMotor2 game, with the most features and decided to enhance it. Just curious - why not port GTL content to GTR2, what do you stil miss, the UI?

                          I must admit that at first I was looking to run GTL/GTR on Linux ! But without success for the moment !
                          Then I came across your discussions...

                          I'm going to go deeper into what you say...
                          Especially with DXVK, which I don't know

                          The question for GTL is simply that it is still regularly used here, more than GTR, at least for 60/70/80 cars...I regret it
                          Also the people who still work on GTR2 cars, it's a pity because not used online...

                          DXVK is actually coming from Linux (it is DX9 implementation via Vulkan). But to my surprise, on my hardware it runs better than DX9 on Windows (which is very counterintuitive, as most other wrappers/layers are slower than the native thing). And, it is open source, so I can change it. I created a separate GTR2 specific fork, where I change it to Enhance GTR2 beyond what is possible in DX9, and I will keep adding/changing things as I learn more.

                          I suspect those old games would run on Wine just fine, but what about steering wheel, pedals, shifters, controllers, Crew Chief, motion stuff, transducers? How to make all that work on Linux, is that possible? (just curious).
